So last week I read:
59. Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor (finished 4/10) (OMG....I so loved this story. It was so different! Can't wait for the sequel in November)
60. The Running Dream by Wendelin Van Draanen (finished 4/11) (This was a re-read for our book club. Loved it, too)
61. Carmen by Walter Dean Myers (finsihed 4/13) (meh,... found the script format kept me at an emotional distance from the characters)
62. Lost & Found by Shaun Tan (finished 4/14) (beautiful picture book? graphic novel? that left me thinking)
63. a + e 4ever by ilike merey (finished 4/15) (VERY adult graphic novel. I'll be passing this along to a high school teacher to decide if it would be appropriate for his or her students.
This week I plan to:
- finish Between The Sea and Sky
- Read Why We Broke Up and Lie (at least)

Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Running Dream sound great. They are both already on my TBR. Glad to hear you like them! Congrats on the new position!
ReplyDeleteSo many books I haven't read. I did read Why We Broke Up and really enjoyed it. Congrats again on the position!
ReplyDeleteLoved Daughter of Smoke and Bone, although I didn't quite buy the romance. Still, fantastic world-building and writing! The Running Dream was one of my favorite books from last year. Such a powerful story. Loved Lost & Found to.
ReplyDeleteWhy We Broke Up is another favorite of mine, but it seems to be a very polarizing book. I know lots of people who didn't care for it at all. It took me a while to get used to the breathless writing style, but, after a while, I came to really love the characters and story.
I couldn't get into Daughter of Smoke and Bone, but it constantly gets rave reviews, so I am sure I will attempt to revisit it sometime soon. Here is my list http://wp.me/pzUn5-W6
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Seems like a lot of people enjoy it. Plus the cover is just beautiful, it draws me in every time I see is on a shelf!
ReplyDeleteI just found this blog and am so excited! I teach 6th grade ELA, and love reading and sharing my love of books with others. I just started Radiance by Alyson Noel. I'm on page 26, and not sure if I want to finish it. I'm going to keep trying, but if it doesn't catch me soon, I'm moving on!
ReplyDeleteDo you follow Laini Taylor in the blog world? She has a few...but I love this one as a sustenance for writers: http://notforrobots.blogspot.com/.
ReplyDeleteRuth
Great reading week. I cannot wait to read The Running Dream and Daughter of Smoke & Bones. Sad about Carmen- I love WDM. I've glanced at a+e and it seemed overly graphic.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading this week!
You read a lot this week! I have heard of Daughter of Smoke and Bones. What you've said about it has piqued my interest even more. Putting in on my TBR list right now. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteShaun Tan is such a remarkable writer - his graphic novels are so good!
